Meet your consultant
Hi, I'm Jaci Brumble
I'm a professional horticulturist, working day in and day out with a vast diversity of tropical and warm-climate plants in a botanical garden collection here on the Gulf Coast. I have an M.S. Horticulture degree and a deep love of tropical plants and the science behind what makes each one unique.
I grew up exploring the wild landscapes of Medford, Oregon, studied at BYU, and eventually followed the plants south to the Gulf Coast, where I plan to stay. From towering Sabal palms to delicate ranunculus blooms, plants have shaped how I see the world.
I started Evergreen House Plant Care because I kept hearing the same thing from homeowners: "I just don't have a green thumb." Nobody does at first. That's what experience and education are for. When your monstera starts yellowing, your calathea goes crispy, or you find mush at the base of a plant you were sure you were watering correctly, you shouldn't have to guess. Let me be your green thumb.
Why homeowners trust Evergreen House Plant Care
- Master's-level knowledge. Formal botanical training, plus daily hands-on work with one of Florida's serious tropical plant collections.
- Insured. Evergreen House Plant Care carries insurance for every in-home visit.
- Completely judgment-free. Lost a few plants? I've heard it all. My approach is patient, warm, and focused on building your confidence.
- Practical, transparent advice. I don't sell living plants or provide landscaping. My upcoming vessel collection and Evergreen soil and care kits will be optional purchases. Every consultation starts with what your plants need, including when supplies you already own will do.
- Locally rooted. Based in Nokomis, serving the coast from Sarasota through Venice and Englewood down to Port Charlotte. I know exactly what zone 10a heat, sandy soil, and salt air do to plants here.
Specialty plants & expertise
Working with a botanical collection gives me hands-on knowledge of species most consultants have never touched. Indoors, that means aroids like Monstera deliciosa and philodendrons, Ficus lyrata and the rest of the difficult figs, calatheas and marantas, orchids and bromeliads, ferns and shade plants, epiphytes and air plants, container palms, and statement houseplants of every kind.
I do also get asked about the Gulf Coast landscape: yellowing palms, sagos, and yards that never bounced back after a storm. I get asked often enough that I have written those up too. But the work itself is houseplants: what lives in your rooms, on your shelves, and on your lanai.
